I'm still not sure if it's name brand or if it was custom built. Reason that's important is because that biggest issue I mentioned on my post about SP3 had a lot to do with name brand PC's with pre-loaded OS's. If it's NOT a name brand, and if it uses custom hardware then it's "less" likely to have the issue, but that by no means others won't, remember that my PC is totally custom built and it had the issue. If you're totally happy with the way it's working, then of course I wouldn't mess with it either. Sounds like you REALLY need to backup all your data bad. If you can't live without it you're going to be in a really bad fix (not IF but WHEN) the HD(s) or something else goes bad. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://www.OrpheusComputing.com http://www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vern" > No, it hasn't been 'officially fixed', you should wait. > Unless > you're ok with either removing it if you have the problems > with > it, or trying the fixes if you have the problems (listed in > my > post on this). > > Is this a name brand PC with a pre-installed OS or custom? > If > name brand, what is the brand? > -Clint I purchased the computer from PCclub an outfit that is or was only in the western USA. I'm not sure they are still in Arizona anymore. I bought this computer 6 1/2 years ago. I don't think the CD is OEM. I've never had to reload Windows. I'm a collector. I have so much junk on this computer I can't find it but I can't live without it. <G> I can't buy a new computer because I could never get all this junk transferred to the new computer. I have a hard drive with four partitions plus a slave drive that came from the computer before this one. I could do a system restore but if it involved more than that I'd be unhappy to say the least. I'll wait. Everything runs fine. I don't need to mess things up. <G> Vern > MS just notified me they are ready to send the SP3 update. I > have an old > AMD chip set.
