Very difficult I think. They would need to be connected to the internet, find your computer and then get through your firewall. People driving by are looking for WIRELESS access though, so I don't think you need to worry until you go wireless. But now I am curious as to the requirements to protect a wireless home network (computers plus internet) from drive-by hackers.
