A good secure system has 5 layers of protection... in no specific order of importance... 1. Firewall 2. Anti-malware protection (virus, trojans, worms etc) 3. Anti-adware/spyware 4. Intrusion Detection System 5. An operator aware of the limitations of the above. The TechSupportAlert Newsletter put out by "Gizmo" has been running a very good series of articles on computer security... The home page and the first in the series are linked below. http://www.techsupportalert.com/ http://www.techsupportalert.com/issues/issue117.htm and continues through the current issue (issue126) If you are not already subscribing to his newsletter, start NOW! It is FREE but also has a paid edition. Don P.S. Did I mention the 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities? http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm But WAIT! There's more. If you subscribe, even to the FREE edition, he'll send you another list containing an ADDITIONAL 36 FREE utilitues. ----- Original Message ----- From: "~OoO~" <sirtroth@xxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 19, 2005 9:30 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: can someone try this?? > Its not as many as it seems. > > You need an antivirus, obviously.
