well - I've had spywareblaster and spywareguard for eons. They were the only ones that supposedly guarded your computer from getting those bugs in the first place. Now - there seem to be more of them. I had adaware on here. I put microsoft on here as protection from getting them - I didn't know that I trused spywareblaster, and spywareguard hasn't been updated in a few years. I've had spybot in the past. When I got a bug that I couldn't remove, I put spywareguard on to see if that would get rid of it. It didn't. That's when I found spyware doctor - and it removed it. So, I never bothered to remove spybot. Or, adaware. I only have 1 anti-virus - which is essential, and does different things than the anti-spyware programs and I have a firewall running - which, is essential, and does different things than the anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. I know it's obvious only one will not catch everything but it seems you would have to fill up the whole computer with JUST programs to protect it and THEN you still wouldn't catch all of it..... I have all of those too! LOL Cris ----- Original Message ----- From: ~OoO~ To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2005 11:01 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: can someone try this?? You can't just rely on these two tools alone. I would also recommend = Ad-Aware (comes in Free edition and Pro edition), Spybot and the new = Microsoft AntiSpyware (previously from GIANT). And, of course, make sure = you have your antivirus program up-to-date, and your firewall active. ---Troth -- <Please delete this line and everything below.> To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
