Thank you MN. That was a great detailed answer. I'm about to sit down with
my daughter now and read it again with her. No, I'm not planning on allowing
my kids unlimited access to porn sites. ;) Right now though the interest
centers almost exclusively around Friends, so we're ok for a while now. The
computer is in the living room and I do keep tabs.

protected music as a way to get themselves heard -- like giving away
records.

| Having given the legal implications, there is a very big argument that
many consumers have that says "I am legally allowed to make a copy of a song
for my own use -- I should be able to download a MP3 file for my own use as
well". I won't get into this dbate as the position is personal to each
person. Obviously the recording industry feels that's wrong.............and
the millions of people who use P2P to download music feel it's right.

| If you allow your children to use P2P software, be very, very sure you
have a good firewall, you have a good AV software and keep it up to date,
and that you make sure that the P2P software is set up properly so access to
files on your computer is limited. If you aren't sure how to do that, ask
before allowing your children to use the P2p software. Lastly, make sure
you monitor what your children download........unless you are the type of
parent that allows them to have unlimited access to porn.

doing and practices safe computing practices.
