Try Dos for Dummies. It might be out of print since Dos is not a part of
Win XP. The command he told about is not a DOS command since DOS is not
part of XP. XP has a command prompt window which allows you to type in
commands, instead of using the graphical interface of Windows. While the
command prompt looks like the old Dos, it is not. Any program you start
by clicking on an icon can be started in the command prompt window by
typing the correct program name the icons refers to. If you are using Win
Me or 98, then Dos is present and you could use the commands in the book,
DOS for Dummies or any other book on Dos. Dos stands for Disk Operating
System. It is an operating program for the computer. Win Me, 98 and
earlier versions were not true operating programs, but graphical interface
programs that ran on Dos, just like any other program. Windows 2000, XP
and later are true operating programs that have the graphical interface
built into ythem. That is why they seem more stable.

Hi Doc
Thanks for the prompt reply and explanation.

Do you have a good book or two that you may recommend that instructs a
person on the finer arts of using MS DOS and/or its commands?
