I've just realised a massive flaw in my logic here - MultiRen works through the context menu! LOL Glenn, if you still can't rename those annoying files, just boot into DOS and try using the REN command. e.g. C:\> REN verylo~1.mp3 shorter.mp3 This would change a file displayed in Win9x as 'verylongfilenameindeed.mp3' (which gets truncated in DOS) to whatever you specify afterwards on the command prompt.
