I am not a guru so I am just running at the mouth here.... I thought the
clock/calendar in a computer was simply code in the BIOS that runs
continuously as long as power is supplied... from the battery or the wall
socket. And that the interface in Windows was simply a software interface to
manage changes present a pretty and easy access for the user.

If that is the case, how would a clock malfunction cause the specific
problem at hand? It would seem more logical that a bad battery or a bad
clock would make the Windows interface totally worthless. Not just the one
tab.

Where has my thinking gone bad?

Don
