Ahhhhh.... ok, you didn't say that before, so I assumed you meant you were
looking at your favorites from the top menu bar, not the left sidebar. I
can't do it from the side bar neither.
On top where it says:
FILE | EDIT | VIEW | FAVORITES | TOOLS | HELP
Click on the Favorites and all your favorites should open and flop down.
Right-click on any favorite IN THE LIST and you should see SORT BY NAME.
Let me know if that works.

I keep my favorites column open all the time.
I did click on the favorites button in the top menu, which made the
favorites column disappear and then clicked on the favorites button in the
top menu again, which made the favorites column appear again, and click on a
folder and individual URL and there was NO sort item in the pop up menu.
Life is what happens in between plans.
