I'm not an expert but it sounds like the new program didn't
load properly. What I have done and seen done in the past
was to reload the program hopefully in the said file location
or default. Then before you reboot your system go to control
panel and delete it, removing all the old files. Then go to start,
find files, and type in name of program and delete files that
may be left over from program also.

Hope it helps. Maybe others ones with better suggestion though.
