hi, Scott, errr, I don't remember if I did a restart between uninstall & re-install. :-} The modem query showed a number of commands. only one was unrecognized. I think they may have had a cable modem before their son moved out. the AOL seemed set up for broadband, but there is only a phone modem now. I shoulda printed out the error messages. I guess there could be a virus in there? Thanks! EllenM Scott McNay <Wizard@xxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi Ellen, Tuesday, June 8, 2004, 4:11:07 PM, you wrote: EM> auto-correct feature was useless as well. It's not unusual for SOME commands to be unrecognized, since Windows simply checks a predefined list of commands. If the modem returns results for SOME commands, then it's talking to the computer ok. Did you restart the computer after removing AOL and before reinstalling? --Scott. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo!
