Well, just my $.02. a) No1 should get an ms operating system that's under a year old, preferably 2; b) Having said that, *anything's* better than vista! So, Gerald, you're right between the proverbial rock & a hard place. If it were I, & I were looking for something inexpensive & felt I absolutely had to have Windows, I think I'd bite the bullet & do 7. MS knows it can't come out w/another bomb like Vista & expect to stay top dog for long. Otherwise, there are netbooks w/Linux on them, & perhaps that route would be something worth considering. Provided u don't have any accessibility considerations & your hardware's pretty standard, XWindows/GNome gives a great deal of Windows functionality w/o the ubiquitous malware. MacBooks are also good but quite pricey. Let us know what u decide. -- Change the world--1 deed at a time Jackie McBride www.abletec.serverheaven.net Please join me Saturday, 11/7, on my walk against breast cancer by making a donation at: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/larkspur> -- -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at //www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
