After you click on "Start" and then click on "Shut Down", which option is
marked in the box? Has it been told to REstart or to Start.
Sometimes we have told it to restart after installing something new and it
needs to shut down and restart to complete the installation. Hope the solution
for that problem is this easily solved.

Subject: [pchelpers] Slow Computer Won't Shut Down

  Hi People,
      I have two problems:
  1. I can't get the computer to actually shut down when I choose that option
from the shutdown menu. It just keeps re-booting. I know this is a common
problem with win98 but since it never happened to me before I wasn't paying
attention when it was discussed before. This started happening after I
upgraded my ram from 96MB to 320MB.

  2. I have found that my computer hasn't gained any speed. In fact it seems
to have slowed down! Has anyone ever heard of a pc slowing down when more
ram was added? My apps are taking up to three seconds to start loading when
I launch them. This hesitation was not there before. They are loading at a
  little less speed than before.

  I'm running a VIA Cyrix 3 550MHz cpu with 320MB of ram under Win98SE.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  George

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
