When i last looked, its free version only scans on demand and does not protect against new infections. In comparisons with Avira in reliable university-connected tests, it's been shown to be much slower in getting definition updates to users after a virus outbreak and to be less good at heuristics (recognising malware it doesn't have in its definitions). >> http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/AntiVir-Personal-Edition-Download-6527.html > Still, it doesn't hurt to have an extra antivirus as long as one does > not attack the definitions of the other. They never do that; that's a problem with some antispyware programs. What you want to avoid is having more than one antivirus running simultaneously. You have to turn off the realtime protection (often called "background" or "guard") of your normal one. -- -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at //www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
