I want to pose something to the Members of PAS...

William and i were talking, and i'm leaning one way, and he is leaning the
other on this topic....

At the PVCC Telescope Workshops, like the one coming up this Thursday, we
also offer a star party. However, the star party isn't that great due to
how brightly lit the buildings are.

William says we should cancel the star party portion of the event and just
go with the telescope workshop.

My thought is.... we have had a few people visit just for the star party,
and whether we are able to do the star party or not, some of them have been
becoming new PAS members. Do we want to lost that outlet of gaining new
members? I'd say we have had a run of good luck, and gained new members who
would normally not have been able to view though a scope any other day of
the week and enjoyed it enough to become members. The last 3 events like
this I took in 1 new member each night. But that wasn't happening prior to
Summer 2014. I dont' know what is causing the increase in members.

However, the other side of this is, if someone RSVP's to attend just the
star party, i have to be sure we have someone there who can work the 16"
light bridge that night. I can't do that and run the event, so i really
need to be sure someone is there for that purpose.
For which, i hope when you look at the RSVP list in the forums for the
event, you check to see if someone is needed to work the scopes to do a
mini star party. That way we know we are covered for it. And RSVP that you
can do that for me at the event. please.

So, since it is a bit of a challenge, sometimes to have a star party in
this location, what are your thoughts about this situation?

Are you leaning more towards William's input or mine?

Give me your ideas. Let's discuss this. Help me decide if we are dropping
the Star Party portion of the PVCC Telescope Workshop events, or keeping it
going? Your input is requested. All input is appreciated.

I have a few more RSVP's for this Thursday's workshop. I will be updating
the forum thread with who is attending today and Thursday.

I will be away from my computer most of Wednesday Feb 24.

see them, but you always know they are there.
