NO Bert, it just made this a content oligopoly instead of a monopoly.

As a matter of fact, by the time cable came around, late 1970s early 1980s, there were many more than just three channels available, at least in markets of any size. The UHF band made that possible.

And the content on these additional channels consisted primarily of old movies and the reruns of the content created by the big three...
