The article touches upon the work that Sinclair and Coherent Logix have been doing; but it is far from clear how this might work. Reading between the lines, it sounds like a broadcaster could continue to use the current ATSC standard, the new ATSC 3.0 standard, and possibly some form of LTE broadcast. As we do not know what ATSC 3.0 will be, it sounds like the Broadcast Market Exchange provides the glue to use multiple broadcast or two-way infrastructures, including those yet to be implemented. This sounds much like the kind of extensibility I have advocated for years. But it is far from clear how this would work. Perhaps Mark can provide us with a little background, or point us to a resource where we can learn more.
