Oh I forgot, the iPad does not play well with Flash-based websites...

Yes there is some control over the content available via iTunes, and yes, some of it is not free. But most of the applications available via the app store cost a fraction of what the equivalents cost for the "open worlds" of the PC and gaming platforms.

Last I checked most e-books cost real money. That Kindle thingy is and open platform...

Right?

Will magazines and newspapers start charging for their content?

Probably... some already do. If the public deems that the experience is worth the price, where's the problem? It's not like movies and video games are free...

And if the iPad platform is so closed, how can it be that people are downloading the free Netflix app in droves?

Me thinks that the PC minions just don't understand the true cost of ownership of their toys...
