To add to this, befor we have converted most show to regular widescreen, they have converted even the early morning stuff, (how would Fred Oster look in HD;-)). Yup, now you can see Bob Barker's 80(?) year old face in glorious Widescreen HD, now lets go give away some cars...*. And the Today show will be in HD as well. http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10524 *Two years ago we could watch Columbus Ohio's TV 10 online, he gave away three cars to one contestant, befor the first commercial break. BTW, does anyone know of a nice US network stream we could tap into;-). Yep, this was the fifth or even sixth world cup since the introduction of widescreen television. 16:9 will become the standard, but it still isn't the standard, the RTL group controlled channels may only start switching over next year, currently they are exclusively 4:3. It becomes especially obvious when you compare the Dutch broadcasters to their Flemish counterparts at VRT. Actually they worked together reporting on reports from Italy on the eve of the elections, guess what I watched the report on the VRT's 'Ter Zake' current events programme in widescreen. The next night the reworked report was shown on the Dutch current affairs show 'Nova', guess what, yes as the report started I could see the faces, and so on, get streched vertically, yes they are doing everything in good ol' 1.33:1. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeroen Stessen" <jeroen.stessen@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <opendtv@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 09, 2006 2:45 PM Subject: [opendtv] Re: 20060807 Mark's Monday Memo Hi, Craig: > This age old discussion is ridiculous! In this neighborhood 16:9 is the standard for today, and wider than 16:9 is the future. 4:3 TVs are only still selling well in supermarkets and drugstores.
