Antonio – I have this book as it was on the list of possible reads for our
schools book club – I haven’t started yet – excited to begin now!

I recommend "Hunger of Memory" ( The education of Richard Rodriguez) I have it
in English, but you could probably find it in Spanish-it is about 10
bucks...This is a very thought-provoking book for Hispanic students:) You could
have some awesome discussions about many different topics that Richard writes
about.
Good luck!

I have a book : un dia sin inmigrantes. Quince vices, una causa. which is a
compilation of reflections by Latino authors. The author/coordinator is Gona
Montaner. I recommend the passage: es hora de que se escuchen Nuestras voces by
Karla Martinez.

Suerte!!

This is my first year teaching a Spanish Heritage class. We just finished
watching “Walkout” and have been looking at data on Hispanic in schools such as
drop out, percent in college and so on. I’m now looking for any short stories
that talk about Hispanic education, activism, Latino rights…anything to
continue to talk, inspire, help them dig deeper and so on. I prefer in Spanish
but let me know what you got.

Also, this is my first year teaching it, so I am a little low in resources. If
you have any other resources for a heritage class – I welcome them!
