- Comments: "Continuing. Distant, still bird barely visible behind
vegetation. Pointed out by others, otherwise would have been nearly
impossible to find. Eventually emerged and swam around in the open.
Seen in fading light, but distinguishing details evident. Dark body with
white nape and head. Dark throat. Small goose, probably close in size to a
minima cackling goose. Small stubby bill. Head had a rounded cue ball
appearance."

Distant small goose seen in scope, with white head, pink bill and silvery
gray back. It barely moved during the 30 minute observation period, but
occasionally turned its head enough so that the dark chin and front of the
neck were visible. It sat in the NW corner of the marsh, in reeds just past
the furthest areas of water."

- Comments: "Continuing birds and resident in the area. We spotted a flying
flock of about 15 birds flying just east of the Rim Village Gift Shop.
They flew down the hill on the south side of the parking lot into a sunlit
forest glade or meadow and foraged for seeds in between the snow banks.
Obvious field marks, very colorful finches with a very bold yellow bill,
gray colored head, cheek and neck with a black forehead patch.
Chestnut-brown bodies with some dark maculations along the flank, and
mixing in the flank area with a rosy colored flank. Forked tail and silvery
underwings when flying."

bird was near the corner of Dabbler Marsh. Was foraging high in trees,
bobbing tail. Had yellow undertail coverts, whitish eye line, large white
spots on underside of tail. Back basically brownish with dull wing bars,
underparts mottled. One poor pic here included. Was loosly associating
with other warblers, kinglets and chickadees"
