Calidris shorebird had brown upperparts with dark feather centers on the

Fairly large and slender flycatcher, with a slightly crested nape.
Upperparts and head greyish. Throat and breast very pale gray, almost

photo. Either first year male or well-marked female. Medium-large bright
yellow warbler with long tail and medium-length bill. Solid black area on
crown from nape to middle of crown, leaving yellow forehead. Black throat
patch somewhat mottled, mixed black and yellow. Underside from breast to
vent bright lemon yellow. Upperside and wings from nape back darker olive
yellow, as in Wilson's. Undertail white, with some white bleeding into
yellow of undertail coverts, which we found interesting. Overall appearance
was largish and long.
Life bird for Courtney! Yay! So happy we were able to have a wonderful
adventure out to Malheur Co. and still make it back for this bird.
Beautiful to see one in breeding plumage, foraging actively but low in
lone lilac bush and low snowberries in southern headge, giving many great
views to several of us, and beginning what turned out to be a really
awesome weekend, with the Zack Schlanger, Oliver James who found this bird,
and the Hinkle fam, with brief run-ins with Isaac Denzer and Jacob
Mathison, Alan Contreras (who spotted it for us today!) and Gabe Sandoval.
We will remember this weekend forever!"
