- Comments: "Heard “queark!” calls as we were leaving the retreat. We were
on the road somewhat close to karma and mother’s trail and heard at least 2
quail not very close to each other. Calls were from the west (and I think
close to where the clear cut edge is)."

flew off but it was decided that it couldn’t be a downy because it had more

- Comments: "'Rare', 'Infrequent': continuing bird seen by several. With
Golden-crowned Sparrows on trail closest to highway on the west bank of the
river, about halfway from the pullout parking to Steve Kornfield's pin. In
thick-stemmed woody bushes, so it took me a few tries to get a good enough
look. Distinctive zonotrichia sparrow with defined, broad white supercilium
with yellow at lores, white throat. More vibrant reddish on wings than
nearby Golden-crowneds. County bird!
Note: I was on the west side of the Deschutes River, opposite from the main
State Park, which is closed over COVID-19 concerns, and you might get a
ticket for entering. The part of the area I was in is typically still
called 'Tumalo State Park' by local birders, but is accessed from a small
gravel parking area on O.B. Riley Rd on the west side of the river, with a
trailhead sign that is not signed as closed, and has a social distancing
advisory on it. All of this as of 03/24/2020 when I birded it."
