tail feathers, robin-sized. Completely silent. It was perched in tall shrub
(one without red berries) just west of yellow Victorian house property. It
may have been there the whole time I was there but I only saw it finally
when it hopped around in the top of the bush. Viewed from Yamhill
Intermediate School, across the street."

one there, what’s that one?” I looked and didn’t see it, and told him,
“Maybe you saw a goldfinch??” and then listed off the other brown sparrowy
species around. He went back inside his house, and Lars then called out
“Bullocks Oriole!” seeing it. So Courtney missed the Rarity, even though
the homeowner pointed it out to me ... and Lars gets the glory of our CBC
birding today :-) . (Note: neither Tim R nor a former Port Orford CBC
compiler can remember any previous Bullocks OR on this count, suggest it
might be a count first?)"

- Comments: "At least three Tricolored males (and a couple of potential
females, not counted) in a blackbird flock hanging around the dairy
buildings. I had good scope views of many of the birds loafing on top of a
corrugated roof until a Sharp-shinned Hawk blasted through and nabbed one,
at which point the flock scattered to shelter out of view. The male
Tricoloreds had clear, sharp white edging to their mostly-hidden red
epaulets, glossy-black bodies, and tended to point their tails sharply up
(like a cowbird) when moving around. Distant photo shows three males on the
peak of the roof, interspersed among Brewer's Blackbirds and cowbirds."
