Tuesday,11-17 I joined Lowell Franks on the Fort Rock Raptor Survey. We spent 6
1/2 hours under mostly cloudy skies, occasional light rain, strong winds and a
beautiful rainbow that lasted all day. With all that we ended up with one of
the higher counts for the survey route with 146 raptors with high numbers of
Red-tails and Rough-legs. One of the main non raptor attractions was a herd of
236 Pronghorns in a hay field just east of Silver Lake.
For wildlife agencies, we saw no jackrabbits, lots of tracks, and none of the 9
Golden eagles had backpacks (radio transmitters).

Red-tailed Hawk 54
American Kestrel 4
Northern Harrier 13
Bald Eagle 2 A, 2 S
