BAD WEATHER PLAY
Weather Watch– This time of year the weather can be unpredictable. For this
reason, people often will have a good weather plan and a bad weather plan. Good
weather will most often mean, play will be at the Montague City Park Courts.
Bad weather will most often mean play will be switched to the Yreka Y. Watch
PTS for the latest info on where people are playing, so you don’t miss out.
COLD WEATHER BALLS
Cold Weather Balls– The SVPC has just purchased some suposedly indesturctible
balls – Selkirk Pro S-1, so hopefully we will have them for cold weather play
in Montague and Mount Shasta soon, so we can stop cracking balls on those cold
mornings.
PLAY TIMES AT THE YREKA YMCA
PICKLEBALL PLAY at YREKA YMCA ($8 entry fee for non-members)
*YREKA YMCA is open to P-ball but will be used sparingly while the weather is
good & often when the weather is cold, rainy or snowy.
-Scheduled Play– 7-9 AM - M, T, Th & 8-9 AM Sat (1)Refer to PTS to see if
actual play is planned (2) Advanced Play rarely uses all 3 courts, so less
advanced players are welcome to schedule “invite only” matches during this time
for 1 or 2 courts.
-Open Play – 9- 11 AM – T, Th & Sat. plus Fri night from 5-7 PM. Everyone is
welcome to play during these time. (Generally more advanced play will take
place on court 3)
-Golden Eagle Charter School is scheduled to use the gym on M & W from 9-11 AM
& Tu & Th from 11-4 PM. Please respect their scheduled times.
-Other Play Times - Friday from 7-11 AM & Sun 10AM to 4PM The gym is generally
open for Special play games, but call ahead to make sure there are no conflicts

-Good Weather - Typically, during the good weather months, most Picklers will
play outside in Montague or at the Mt. Shasta Resort, but if we have cold, wet,
snowy, rainy or smokey weather people can use the Y as an indoor option. All
should make sure they have three other players willing to join them, by
refering to PTS. If you are not a member the daily use cost at the Y is $8.

as a user, other people can invite you to special games. Venues such at

PICKLEBALL PLAY AT THE MONTAGUE CITY PARK (FREE)
- M-Sat 9-11 AM Open Play
- Tuesday 7:30-9:30 Advanced Ladder Match (Invite Only)
-The most active Open Play days in Montague are M, W & Sat
-If you go on Tu.,Wed., or Thurs. you will likely have lots of court space, but
may lack players.
-Advanced Ladder Matches (3.5 & above) are being scheduled regularly through
PTS on Tuesdays.
-Or any other time you want to play at the park
-Courts are being locked, so only share the combo with other p-ball or tennis
players. The combo is 9606. Extra net and balls can be found in the storage
container combo are “PLAY” north box & “002” south box.
PICKLEBALL MOUNT SHASTA RESORT (FREE)
-Hard Hitters Ladder Play M, W 8-10 AM (Players approaching 4.0 & above –
Invite Only)
-Open Play Tu, Th & Sat. 9-11 AM
-Open Advanced Ladder Play F 8-10 AM (3.5 players & above – Invite Only)
-Or any other time you want to play at the resort (free)
-Mount Shasta Resort courts are outside courts at a higher altitude so weather
or court conditions should be considered.
PICKLEBALL PLAY in the Scott Valley
-If you live in the Scott Valley or are visiting there they have both inside
and outside courts. Outside courts are at Etna High School.
