Hi Leith:

I couldn't tell you for sure what's going on. It's quite possible that
your keyboard is fully functional.

I have a "white" keyboard (the one that came with the first generation
Mac mini, circa April 2005) and, although I can use it to read and
update my iPod Shuffle, I cannot charge its battery using the
keyboard. I need to plug the Shuffle directly into the computer to
charge the battery.

I'm no fan of hubs so I have to be happy with only the two USB 2 ports
on the Mac mini and the two USB 1.1 ports on the keyboard. Instead of
fiddling around at the back of the Mac mini each time I want to swap a
device (the external USB 2 DVD burner and the external USB 2 Epson
scanner/printer/copier) I have an extension cable and allow it to
suffer the wear-and-tear on my machine.

PS You may want to get yourself a USB 2 hub and try that with the next
memory stick you buy (in case your current hub isn't USB 2).

Eric.
