Hi, Rex. I just wanted to jump in here and explain that you can create an autorun CD with PowerPoint, the PowerPoint Viewer, and an autorun.INF file. Nothing is installed on the recipient's computer; everything is run directly from the CD. PPT isn't as powerful as Flash, but it can certainly be much easier to learn--at least for a sighted person. ;-) And a well designed PPT presentation can be as effective as Flash on an autorun CD. There is information on my site about PPT and autorun CDs. http://www.echosvoice.com/autoruncd.htm You will want to download the PPT Viewer from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/Ppview97.aspx and install it to your harddrive before you begin so that you will have all of the files necessary to copy to your CD. Your finished CD will have the following: the CD itself ("root") Present (folder) Setup (folder) The autorun.INF file has the following text: [autorun] open=ppview32.exe present\present.LST The autorun.INF file is burned to the CD root along with all of the PPT Viewer files necessary. Those are listed at http://www.echosvoice.com/173937.txt The LST file would have the following text: FILE1.PPT FILE2.PPT If you don't want to make a playlist (LST file), you can just put the name of your PowerPoint file in the autorun.INF instead. (For example, open=ppview32.exe present\file1.ppt ) The present.LST file goes in the folder on your CD called present. Your presentation file goes in this folder, too. If you've used any movies or sounds in your presentation, they also go in this folder. Finally, copy the ppview.dll file from your harddrive to the folder on your CD called setup. That's it. I'm also interested in knowing how Vic turns the PPT presentations into EXE files, but I wanted you to know that autorun CDs can also be made without EXE files. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rex Leslie Howard Jr." <hbk@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, September 28, 2002 2:05 PM Subject: [mso] powerpoint and a note for Vic > I would like to try and make a legal presentation that would walk someone > through different categories of legal research.
