I haven't read this whole thread, but I'll echo Greg's advice re video
drivers and add that turning down hardware acceleration often helps with
this issue as well. Sometimes turning off 3D accleration and things like
that also resolves the problems. We see these kinds of display oddities
quite often in the public PPT newsgroups, and usually it boils down to video
drivers and related items.
