I've found if I insert a caption and it places it below the canvas, then I
CAN drag that caption box into the canvas ... I don't have to cut and paste
that one.

It's all weird and I'm liking 2007 less and less LOL

And yes, like I said, once stuff has been inside the canvas and you've
dragged it out, even if you ungroup it, you can then select multiple items
again by using the select tool OR by using the control key ... it seems once
they've been in the canvas, they continue to act like "canvassed" items even
after you move them out and delete the canvas. Makes no sense to me at all
LOL

Here are a few other fine points I've discovered. You cannot drag and drop
into the canvas but rather must cut and paste. Strangely, as Linda
mentioned, you can drag and drop the grouped objects out of the canvas.
Don't ask me why the difference. I guess that's the only way the two
different graphic engines will accept them. You cannot add a caption to a
photo while it is in the canvas. I guess captions are really a text box and
so the new graphic engine doesn't know anything about them. However, you can
cut and paste a previously created caption (of a text-wrapped object only)
into the canvas and consequently group it with an image.

And now, here is the weirdest thing of all. After you group your objects in
the canvas, you can drag them out of the canvas as Linda mentioned and they
retain that property. However, if you then un-group them, I find that
suddenly you can now use the select tool to choose multiple objects of that
previous group and re-group them, something that you couldn't do before
without having them on the canvas. Now that's really weird!
