So, Greg....I guess I'm still confused. Can you tell me if you go to this
page, using Dian's machine, can you see the spreadsheet?
http://personal-computer-tutor.com/vlookup.htm

Actually, now that I think of it, that's not a good test...since Dian has
other versions of Office on her machine, she will still have that clsid key,
so she probably CAN see it.

Since I have Office 2003 on this new machine which has NEVER had any other
version of Office on it, I definitely could not see it until I added that
key manually, since the script behind this page points at that key. What I
need to know is, if people buy brand new computers with Office 2003
installed...or if they format their hard drive and install Office 2003, will
they be able to see this page? And, if not, how the hell do I make this
page viewable to people using Office 2003, so that it's still visable to
others using older versions of Office? Or is that just not possible?

Yes, I DID notice all those version differences in the registry when I was
nosing around in there trying to figure out what happened....but when you
say, in your last paragraph, "Ideally, the same would have been true of your
OWC.Spreadsheet.", I can tell you it was NOT. So, is there something I can
change in the code behind this page to make it visible to ALL versions
without having to tell people to mess around in their registries? If not, I
consider this a BIG downside to Office 2003 as a clean install.

If you view the code behind that page, you see it clearly points to this
specific clsid, which was NOT present in my computer with a *clean* install
of Office 2003:

<object classid="clsid:0002E510-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"
id="Spreadsheet1" width="576" height="235">
