[mso] Re: Another Weird Word Problem

These overnight timezone differences always mean that I'm behind the =
backlog
of suggestions.

My comment, FWIW, is that I've seen the
blank-page-at-end-of-mailmerge-in-Word many times. It's not always =
obvious
why it's there but *sometimes* can be attributed to the datasource. IE =
if
you are working in Access, for example, and the database contains the =
next
blank autorecord, (are you following my drift yet?) Word =
treats/recognises
that as a real record and so *sometimes* creates a page for that *real
record* in the merge.

If you are able to see this database, it might be worth checking if =
there is
a blank/dummy record at the end of the data.

<<The printer drivers are the same for several systems that print to the
same printer without incident.>>

Ok...if the printer drivers work with this particular file on SOME =
systems
and not on yours, then there's a good chance the printer drivers on YOUR
machine could be corrupt...try reinstalling the printer drivers on YOUR
machine. That is, if what you are saying above is that this particular =
file
works on other machines but not on yours.

The easiest way to do this is just go to Start>Settings>Printers and
highlight the printer that's giving you the problem, then hit your =
delete
key. That will delete the drivers on your machine. Then shutdown your
computer and reboot and, if the printer is installed locally, Windows =
will
automatically detect it and reinstall the drivers for you. If it's a
network printer, just go back to Start>Settings>Printers and click on =
the
Add Printer Icon and choose the Network Printer and reinstall it. Some
people don't realize that the printer icons you see in that window are =
not
really the "printers" but just the drivers, so deleting them and
reinstalling them is the easiest way to see if you have a corrupt =
printer
driver.

I will try the shrink to fit suggestion. That would never have occurred =
to
me on my own. I recreated the template already and still get the error.
The printer drivers are the same for several systems that print to the =
same
printer without incident. I plan to un/re install those on this =
particular
system when the productivity folks go home at the end of the day. When =
the
error crops up again, I'll get the details. The only other thing I =
haven't
done is try the same process on a different computer. I had to go with =
a
Plan B in order to clear the backlog of work. ...story of my life you =
know?
