Sure and the fabulous Lane Ranger is right.  Most of my engines 
including the 2-1/2" Shay use mainly fabricated parts.  As you say in 
Jolly olde England, "works a treat".  Almost all of the stationary 
engines I have built are fabricated including the one I am working on 
these days.
Dang, so old Terry is alive and kicking!!!  I was gettin' worried have 
sent him several emails and never heard a word in return. Never even got 
a stir from him when I sent him a photo of his favourite Bush Ranger,
