Hi Tim,

You might try a carbide drill intended for drilling glass. These are spade
shaped pieces of carbide brazed onto a steel drill shank. They're available
in hardware stores here, probably there as well.

Failing the drilling, could you get some gold or silver wire from a
jewellery supply house and enclose the rock in a sort of harness with a loop
at the top?
