The 5" Duchess that won 2nd prize was my pic of the bunch. The lubrication pipework was perfect, and the whole thing, including the coal pusher was very impressive. I felt that the overall standard of the models was high, with a few that were excellent. However, there was nothing truly outstanding, like, form example, the Rolls Royce Eagle engine we saw last year. It will be interesting to see how the change of venue next year affects the show. alan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.alanstepney.info Model Engineering, Steam Engine, and Railway technical pages. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Merrifield" <pprailway@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <modeleng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 10:11 PM Subject: [modeleng] Re: Donnington Hi Tony / Clif Can anyone let me have a date for next years Harrogate Show I am hoping to spend some time in Yorkshire next spring and it would be good to be able to take in the show while I'm there. I will be travelling up from Poole in Dorset and can confirm that it was a tad wet last week. While you were down here did you call in on the Bournemouth ME society track at Littledown? I am interested in the comments about the Donnington show, it is a long way to go from Dorset but three of us made the effort and enjoyed our day. I agree there seemed to be fewer models on display this year but I still found plenty to look at. We visited on the last day and the show closed at 4pm but by 3 O clock some of the stands were well on their way to being dismantled. I know many of the trades people have a lot of work to do before they are on their way home but as a member of the paying public I think it reasonable for the show to be fully open until the closing time.
