Try to do a repair permissions from the recovery partition of your Mac. After a restart, when you hear the chimes, press Command R. This should bring you into the recovery partition. Wait about a minute, and press VO F5 to bring up Voiceover. You will hear a disc utility option, open that and do any permission repairs. then reboot. I haven't been able to repair permissions either because it has been lagging. Any specific settings I need to set before getting started?
