"So you were profiling my opinion?"

Perhaps. I prefer to think that I was trying to understand what the
claim means.

Eric continues:

"As a Christian, you might like ..."

As a rule, I avoid books about groups of people. In particular, I
avoid books written by Christians about Christians.

Eric again:

"That research does tend to support my contention that Western culture
is becoming 'stupider'."

I wouldn't put much stock in it. Every generation of Christians has
believed that its generation was more decadent than the last. Which
leads to my contention that such beliefs about 'these days' has less
to do with 'these days' and more to do with one's attitude towards
popular culture.

My question: Is the attitude 'Kids/culture these days are/is more
stupider' the rule or the exception in history?

My guess: The rule.

Though I can, off hand, think of a few generations where such an
attitude did not prevail.
