Further to the new plug-in:

Deterracing semi-terraced or non-terraced data is not recommended; a lot of memory will likely get used as the plug-in "sees" lots of small terraces.

Selecting a subregion and then deterracing can be slower than the old plug-in, because the new plug-in has to process data outside the selected area in order to perform the interpolations correctly. It's still notably faster than deterracing everything, but not ideally fast.

The progress bar's "time remaining" readout tends to flucuate wildly. The new plug-in iterates over two subprocesses that differ in their speed, alternately slowing down and speeding up, making life difficult for the timing estimator.
