The new algorithm can work for vector contours too, and importing SHP files is not hard to add.

Hi Ray, one of the problems we have is that we have contour maps which can have huge distances between them (in the xy plane). Global Mapper, while having other advatages such as being able to handle very large datasets, does seem to leave large flat areas. Would this algo help avoid that?

Would this algo be able to interpolate for eg shp file contours (presuming shp file support)?

A new algorithm for the Deterrace plug-in is under development. When completed it should be both faster and more accurate.

The above sample (1000 pixels square) shows the preexisting contour lines, which are handy as a reference but technically should not be present.

Unlike the old algorithm, large terrain resolution and/or large plateaus do not leave flat unprocessed areas; every pixel gets fully evaulated.
