nice shots.  Sounds like a wonderful day.

Thanks. It was a great day, though chilly when the sun went behind the clouds!

We got up early and drove from Yosemite to my father-in-law in SoCal, so
we were just on the road all day long.  Not nearly as exciting.

And when will we hear what Yosemite was like, this year?

So what does "Boxing Day" mean?

It seems nobody knows, for sure, but there are many competing theories. But the 
one I grew up with, was that the Lord of the manor and his family had their 
Christmas, and the servants were on duty as usual.  The next day, the servants 
got the day off, and the Lord of the manor distributed their gifts (boxes) ... 
equivalent to today's Christmas Bonuses.  Hence the name. 

Boxing Day is a secular holiday, celebrated in, among others, Canada, the UK, 
Northern Ireland, Ireland (where it is called "St. Stephen's Day), Hong Kong, 
Australia & New Zealand as well as Trinidad & Tobago.
