Hi Matthew,

Maybe the Messenger servers are down, or are having problems.  If it happens 
frequently, I'd consider sending feedback on it to Microsoft, including the 
times when you couldn't sign in.  However, if it's just a one off, then it's 
probably a glitch with the Messenger server.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at Messenger.  I know the MSN team 
welcome feedback from users, and value contributions that us users make to 
the product.
