Hi Kim and others,

This is due to JAWS checking operating system descriptors under Windows. If
it detects that you are running a version of JAWS Standard under a Pro
version of JAWS, then it will refuse to run it due to operating system
descriptors.

Cheers,

Joseph P.S. Hope I got the tech side correct here. Let me know if I was
wrong.

Hi Laura,

I just went through the updating process last month when I got my new
computer which runs XP pro. To update the Jaws license key so that the
computer will run XP Pro cost me $200. As for why Jaws can't run on pro
editions without this extra cost... I wish I knew. If anyone does know, I,
too, would be curious!

Hope that helps, Laura.

Best,

Kim

Subject: XP Pro

Hi listers,

I am using Jaws for windows on my machine at home using XP home
addition. How much would it cost to upgrade so that it can run on XP pro?
Why can't jaws work on XP pro when having jaws for windows on my machine
that has XP home?
