I was told you have to reauthorize jaws each time you add a stick of ram,
because it changes the locking code inside the computer, which is what jaws
relies on to register correctly to that particular computer. That's also why
they only give you a limit of 3 computers to run said program on.

Most pieces of software only make you reauthorize if you change a
significant piece of hardware--a motherboard or perhaps a hard drive. Adding
or removing a stick of RAM should not be a cause for concern. Nor should
plugging in a USB device. Think about it. Microsoft does not make you
reauthorize your Operating System just because you plug in a USB device.
Neither do all of your other programs. The computer world would grind to a
halt if this were the case.
The irony of this whole situation is that Freedom Scientific designed their
software this way. Despite this fact they punish people for using too many
reauthorizations. We should expect more from a program that costs somewhere
around $1,000 with constant expensive upgrades.
