well;

here's another couple reason you'll go back to jaws.

From Chris on the other jaws list.

Hello all.
For those who like this extra protection in Windows Vista and 7, there
is good news. JAWS 12 for me is reading all User Account Control prompts
with little to no delay, from the time I hear the chime to the time JAWS
loads to read the prompt.
I know JAWS has always read these prompts, but until now there has
always been a delay of up to 30 seconds (sometimes JAWS did not even
load at all) from the time the chime sounds to the time JAWS reads the
prompt, if it could be bothered to <smiles>.
Just another reason to go to JAWS 12.

Hello all.
How is JAWS 12 working for you on 64 bit Windows compared to JAWS 11 or
even JAWS 10? I am having excellent results on my 32 bit installations.
It's very responsive even on low spec systems like netbooks.
I look forward to the feedback, good or bad.
Many thanks in advance.

You'll be back to JAWS as surely as the swallows return to Capestrano. Why? Because of its Tandem feature which you couldn't stop raving about. Try accessing someone else's computer remotely with the open source screen reader and see how far you get.

Hello all.
I will publicly state why I am refusing to use JAWS. It is Freedom Scientific's attitude towards pricing and their license schemes. Some of us can't or won't afford to buy JAWS, especially if the free one is just as good as JAWS. As for the license scheme, the user is punished to license JAWS on up to three machines. With the free and even other commercial screen readers one can install on as many computers as they have so long as one machine is used at a time, no questions asked. With JAWS, once all three authorizations have been used they would then have to request FS for more keys. Eventually and I will say eventually they will refuse flat and get paranoid about people sharing authorization keys. I understand piracy and all that and I certainly don't commit to any of that stuff however at the same time FS is just asking for money and not caring about the customer. True there is a dongle option, but even they can have their fair share of problems. Now for the technical,
I
do find the free one to be actually more stable and even works with more applications than JAWS. You may find this shocking but this is true according to my personal experience.
Sorry for the rant but you did suggest I state publicly my reasons. So there you go.
Take care.
