I wouldn't mind the extra charge if JAWS was just about $300 cheaper! About the speech and sounds manager: I use it all the time, it's really speedy! Place Markers: They are useful on Google, I have to admit, but I can't think I've really used them anywhere else, but I do have the occasional time when I think "Thank goodness place markers are there". Web Settings: Useful if you use Eloquence all the time and absolutely HATE the British voice! But all that said, I can fully understand the other perspective. The only way I see of getting things like good stability back into JAWS is to either bombard the Freedom Scientific guys with it or give them no customers and make them wonder why they've been left out! Personally, I think this is pure d wrong. Window-eyes has access to Citrix and remote desktop in the current version and it's absolutely free. Why on earth should we pay $200 for something that's available for free elsewhere? FS needs to get back on target with the user base, realize that we're not interested in all these bells and whistles, and fix the outstanding issues like the focus problems like others have said. But the question is how this can be accomplished. There does appear to be a lot of bug fixes in the 5.1 release so that's all good and well and I'm quite sure people who use MS word will benefit from these. But I don't know a single person who tells me that they've used place markers, the personalized web settings or the speech and sounds manager. To be quite blunt and forward, I think the programmers are just showing off and saying, look what we can do! Ifthey could get back to basics I think it would go a long way to regaining people's trust.
