Rick,

Thanks. That's exactly what my understanding was, and although I am aware
that Properties entails several tabs, or pages, I knew that this shortcut
assignment tab was the only one on which I needed to make changes, and so
pressing Okay alone ought to save the changes properly. Unless something
else was in the way, as Chris Mullins, my hero of the week, helpfully
explained.

Thanks again. People pick up a lot of supposed tips and tricks and operating
instructions that are sometimes misapplied extrapolations from other
situations from the one in question. I know how it can happen. But in this
case, I was pretty sure the Apply button caution wasn't pertinent.

Pressing the apply button is generally only needed if you are in a
multi-page dialogue, and want to make some other changes.
Pressing the apply button before continuing to the next page, saves your
changes in the current dialogue.
