Mike,I haven't seen a version of JAWS use the authorization disk since version
7 or perhaps even earlier. Are you sure that you have JAWS 8 on that machine?
If so the authorization should be via ILM.

The basic problem sounds like you need to go to the JAWS Options menu, Basics and check
the "Start JAWS Automatically" box.

Hi folks. I've encountered a very weird problem with jaws. I'be been using
jaws version 8.0 on my daughter's computer, but for some reason, now, when it
comes up, no speech at all. I've looked at the settings, and as far as I can
tell, it seems to be right. I've tried reinstalling 8.0, but it won't let me
do that, giving me a message asking for my authorization disk. The
authorization is up to date on there. Anyone ever had such a problem as this?
