Hi Jack has it right. However, realize that if you use the gateway drivers, 
and you're using the soundblaster card, then some features of the card will 
be disabled. It's not something I would recommend, , but maybe there's 
another patch out there I'm not aware of.  Last I heard though, people were 
saying that the problem was fixed with the crackling sound, but options in 
the card were disabled.
So i'm saying all this just so you're aware of it.
