Hi All,

Someone from the FS escalation team phoned me yesterday about
another problem I'm having with JAWS 6.0 and OE 6, and during our
conversation, I mentioned the problem of JAWS just stopping reading in
the middle of messages. He said that was a new one to them and I said
that it was a big thread here and that even though it isn't an
official list that we were desperately hoping that someone from FS was
quietly monitoring it.

He may just be out of the loop, but write Freedom Scientific since
they can't fix what they don't know about and maybe if they get enough
complaints about this problem they can fix it for the next release.

Hi All,

Well, we've had all kinds of discussion about how Jaws will just quit
reading
when in say all mode in outlook express. I've maximized the window,
I've
started reading from the top... I've done all the tricks I can think
of, and
Jaws still stops reading. I was looking to see if there is anything
that may
trigger Jaws to just stop reading for no reason, and I've noticed
something.
It seems to me that the thing that causes Jaws to get hung up while
reading are
blank lines. I was reading an article from our local paper that I had
copied
and pasted into an E-mail for a friend. As I read the article in
outlook, it
would just stop reading. So, I started to look at what might be
around the area
where it stops reading. The one constant was that the place that it
stopped was
right above a blank line. so, I would arrow down past that blank line
and do
the say all mode again. Then it would just stop. You guessed it,
another blank
line. so, when there is double spacing in E-mails, it seems that
Jaws will not
ignore the blank lines and keep reading right through.
I'm not sure that this is the only reason Jaws stops reading in mid
stream, but
it seems to be one of them. Jack
