1. Make certain your window is maximized with alt+spacebar and X 2. Try refreshing the screen with Insert+Escape. I haven't installed 10 yet but in 9.latest Insert+escape has become my new best friend. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Carmen Sent: Thursday, December 04, 2008 1:33 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Jaws and Microsoft Word Hey list, I'm using Jaws 10 and Windows XP pro. I was looking at the Microsoft Word help system so I could learn more about Word. I'm making it my mission to learn how to use the help system for various programs. In trying to achieve this goal I've ran into some problems when using the Microsoft Word XP 2003 help system. I was looking at the link for Outlook. I had no problem with reading the information pertaining to the new features in Outlook but when I switched my focus from the Word help window to another window and then alt tabbed back to the Microsoft Word Help window and did a say all to read the information again Jaws wouldn't read it. If he did it was very slow. I also tried up and down arrowing and nothing happened. I did two things. 1. I held down the insert key and pressed up arrow and then quickly released the keys and repeated this process several times and Jaws read the information for me. I shouldn't have had to do that. 2. I used the Jaws cursor and read the information. What I'm getting at is: Why does Jaws not read the information the way he's supposed to when I return focus back to the Word help window? One thing that I didn't mention before is I pressed alt left arrow to go back a page and then alt right arrow to return to the page talking about Outlook and did another say all and Jaws read it just fine. Why is this happening? I shouldn't have to do insert up arrow several times, or use the Jaws cursor, etc to read a simple piece of information. Any suggestions would be appreciative.
